For years I have been a fan of comic books. Throughout high school and into my early college years I tried to collect various titles (honestly too many titles for what I could actually afford). One of my favorite characters has always been Batman. There is just something about him that I have always found fascinating. Honestly, I don’t identify with him in really way, other than an affinity for black and/or gray as my primary color palette when it comes to clothing.

Batman is known as “the world’s greatest detective” (Sherlock and Inspectors Gadget and Clouseau may want a word about that title). But part of him being this great detective is the fact that he asks questions in order to learn what he needed to know. He did not simply overpower his opponents with brute strength, or have super powers like Superman. It wasn’t just his fortune and gadgets that put Joker, and Riddler, and Penguin away time after time. It was also tied to him going to the places his questions led him.

So, this week I would like to ask you some questions and to encourage you all to respond with your honest answers. These will help me not only as the “new guy” but as the pastor to understand more about our church. So, if you are a member or regular attender of Lakeway UMC, please give me your input. You can email your answers to pastorblake@lakewayumc.org or if you would rather talk in person, we can set up a time for that as well. Either way, I want to hear your answers.

So, here are my questions:

1) What do you love about Lakeway UMC?

2) What is missing?

3) Who is Lakeway in the community?

4) What are you afraid I might do?

5) In five* years, I hope Lakeway will be… (the number of years may vary)

6) What is your God-sized dream for Lakeway UMC?

Those are my questions. I hope you will take some time to reflect on them and send me your answers. I look forward to doing ministry together as we go forward.

Grace & Peace y’all

Pastor Blake
