“It’s possible to lose sight of your dream when you’re working hard in the trenches. That’s why it’s important to always keep your eye on the big picture. Keep it before you as a daily reminder—for motivation, inspiration, and direction.”
—John C. Maxwell
Friends, John Maxwell challenges me. Every day we find ourselves in the trenches, and every day we are also called to keep the larger picture before us. Why can’t we simply choose one or the other? Some actually do. Some are like Mary, sitting at the Lord’s feet to be taught, while others resemble Martha—busy, active, serving (Luke 10:38ff). Truth be told, there is a bit of both in all of us. God is blessing our church in so many ways, especially as new leaders continue to step forward. As we begin this new season, where do you find yourself becoming involved? Have you connected with a Sunday School class or a small group? Or are you feeling called to begin one with others who share your interests? The deepest learning of Scripture—and the richest spiritual growth—almost always happens in small groups. I welcome any conversation about starting new groups on different days, at different times, and with studies that meet the needs of our congregation. Keep the big picture before you: we are all on a journey of becoming better disciples of Jesus Christ. I am proud of you, and I believe this season will be filled with joy, purpose, and opportunities for God to receive the glory. You will not want to miss our Christmas Eve worship services—Wednesday, December 24 at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. A beautiful blend of music, candlelight, Holy Communion, and fellowship awaits us as together we remember the birth of Christ and anticipate His coming kingdom.
