Ecclesiastes 3:1-14 (NRSV)
1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
5 a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
10 I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with.
11 He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live;
13 moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil.
14 I know that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done this, so that all should stand in awe before him.
Friends and Family of Lakeway United Methodist Church of Pottsboro, Texas. Grace and God’s peace to you and yours, in the name of Jesus, the Christ. Amen.
This is it. I have been in full-time pastoral ministry for 39.5 years. I have served six churches and as a District Superintendent for two (2) years. My last official day is Tuesday, June 30, 2026. I then enter the ‘Retirement” category in the church. Now, that said, I will continue to serve two 1/4 time appointments: Harless Memorial UMC-Denison and Collinsville UMC-Collinsville. I finish one season of full-time ministry and begin a new season with radically differing challenges and time commitments. It is often said, “you do not retire from, you retire to.” I will be doing that.
God has blessed with a strong and encouraging spouse-Edna. Also, three children that have moved from church to church: Paula, Frankie and Stephen. Also, Reagan who came into our lives and stayed. Martha, who now lives in the Lake Jackson area with he family.
Apart from our immediate family, our church family and friends are numerous. All have loved and supported us in this journey. I thank God for allowing me to be in a special journey with the Lakeway folk. Six years came and went ever-so-quickly. We experienced the highs and lows of the church. We laughed and cried. We worshipped together, and celebrated the lives of many who are in the Church Triumphant. Baptism, wedding, Sacrament of Communion, Advent Season, and more. It was a grand experience. My family have been blessed. I pray that we were a blessing. In the Hispanic culture there is a phrase, “Hasta Luego. Until we meet again.” So, to my many readers on this epistle, stay strong in the Lord. Pray always. Forgive. Worship. My new email address will be “pottsborofrank@gmail.com”
Thank you. Gracias. Blessings from Pottsboro, Pastor Frank
